A proud native of the Mitten (Michigan), I am currently reading for my
Master's in Education (Learning and Technology) at the University of Oxford. I
became interested in if and how ICT can alter the learning experience while
working as a Research Assistant at the Consortium for School Networking's "Web 2.0 In Schools" project for two
years. My undergraduate dissertation, "The Politics of Cyber Schooling:
How Political Considerations Affect the Success of Cyber Schools," tracked
the political and economic considerations that influenced the start-up of an
innovative cyber school in Detroit, Michigan. I then worked as a Data Analyst
the W.E. Upjohn Institute, where I focused on evaluating the effects of the
Kalamazoo Promise, a groundbreaking economic development program that offers
free college tuition to every student within city boundaries regardless of
merit. I also helped spearhead the steering committee for the Kalamazoo Area College Access Network, a district-wide initiative to help secondary students make a successful transition to post-secondary education.
Now, I'm at Oxford, furthering my passion for examining structural,
political, and macro-level issues that affect innovation in educational
technology and in education in general.
